2020 RAM 1500 at Thompson Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Baltimore

The RAM 1500 continues to be our favorite pickup! After going through a complete redesign last year, the RAM is better than ever thanks to its excellent driving dynamics, gorgeous interior, and a unique rear suspension for the class. Due to this, the RAM effortlessly skates past its competitors while providing you with a ride quality usually reserved for sedans. Power is no problem for the RAM either as it delivers terrific ratings for both towing and payload capacity. Engine choices for the RAM range from the familiar V6 to the powerful V8. Last year, the RAM introduced the popular eTorque system, which cuts engine power to save fuel, and comes standard on the V6. Inside the cabin is where the RAM truly shines as it provides you comfortable seats and an easy-to-use touchscreen infotainment system. There is so much more to go over with the RAM 1500, continue reading to find out what else it offers!

What engines are there to choose from?

Many trims of the RAM 1500 come with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that pumps out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The engine does provide you with an eTorque system that helps with fuel economy. Optional is a 5.7-liter V8 that produces 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. You can get this engine with or without the eTorque. This V8 engine is available for the Laramie, Long Horn, and Limited trims. All-new this year is a diesel engine that has 260 horsepower and an incredible 480 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine is available on any trim level outside of the HFE. All engines pair with a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. When adequately equipped, the RAM 1500 can tow a mind-boggling 12,750 pounds.

What are notable features on the 2020 RAM 1500?

Seven incredible trim levels are available for the RAM 1500 on top of the option of either a quad cab with a long bed or a crew-cab with either a long or short bed. The entry-level Tradesman comes with 18-inch steel wheels, a 5-inch touchscreen, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and push-button start. Moving up to the HFE brings 20-inch chrome wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires, side steps, a tonneau cover, a carpeted floor, and front bucket seats. You get more creature comforts with the Big Horn or Lone Star, which has 18-inch aluminum wheels and foglights. Where the Big Horn makes the most significant leap is the available options, which include an 8.4-inch or even 12-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you want more off-road features, the Rebel gives it to you with an electronic locking rear axle and four skid plates. Things take more of a luxurious turn with the Laramie, where the 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard as are power mirrors and rear window. Meanwhile, the leather-trimmed front seats are heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable. Next up is the Longhorn, which ups its game with standard premium-leather bucket seats, a leather-wrapped wood steering wheel, and a spray-in bedliner. The top-line Limited has attractive chrome trim and standard four-corner air suspension.

What are some of the safety features?

The RAM 1500 allows you to get to your destination with confidence thanks to its many safety and security features. Available on all trims is a Blind-Spot Monitoring System with Rear-Cross Path Detection and Trailer Detection. The system scans your blind spot zones beside and behind the RAM to help you make safer lane changes and ensure trailer safety while maneuvering. It also automatically senses and accounts for the length of the trailer. Also available is the Lane Departure Warning System, which helps prevent unintentional lane drifts by providing you with a visual alert as well as guiding the RAM back into position. Finally, the Adaptive Cruise Control System with Stop and Go detects traffic ahead of you. If more braking is needed in the case of slower traffic, the Forward Collision Warning System with Advanced Brake Assist will help keep you at a safe distance.
