2019 Ram 1500 vs 2019 Chevrolet Silverado near Dundalk, MD

Pickup trucks are at the heart of Americans, and whenever you start looking for a new truck, the amount of options available to you can be staggering. Automotive companies know just how much people love their trucks, and they spend a lot of time getting the design right. Two of the best on the market today are the 2019 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. Both trucks bring a lot of features to the table, and we're here to compare what these trucks can give you. The Ram 1500, in the 2019 model year, is completely redesigned and offers a new mild hybrid power system, a reduction in weight, added rear-seat space, and an increase in payload and towing capacity. The Chevrolet Silverado is also completely redesigned, meaning that features you may have loved in the past have changed. These trucks are hard to beat, but you're looking to drive home the very best. Keep reading down below to find out which pickup truck is the best of the best.

2019 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

When shopping around for a pickup truck, one of the first things on your list is going to be what kind of power can the truck give you. The 2019 Ram 1500 comes with two impressive engine options. The first of these is the iconic 3.6-liter V6, which can generate around 269 pound-feet of torque and 305 horsepower. This engine will eventually be added to the lineup later in the 2019 year. This engine also comes standard with an eTorque mild-hybrid system which comes with a 48-volt battery pack to add torque when the situation you're in calls for it. The other engine is a 5.7-liter V8, which can generate up to 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The eTorque mild-hybrid system is optional with this engine. The standard transmission is an eight-speed automatic. There are two drivetrains available with the Ram 1500, two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

Chevrolet has laid out a big engine lineup for you to choose from. This initially seems like a positive, but getting bogged down in engine options can be confusing and unnecessary. The first available engine comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission and is a 4.3-liter V6, which pumps out 305 lb-ft of torque and 285 horsepower. Another engine option, which comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, is a turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-4. This engine can produce around 310 hp and 348 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose from a 5.3-liter V8 engine that works with either a 6-speed or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The most powerful engine in the lineup is a 6.2-liter V8, which can create 460 lb-ft of torque and 420 horsepower.

2019 Ram 1500 Features & Design

Now that you've seen the engine lineup, it's important to see the available trim options. The first among the seven trim levels is the Tradesman. This model includes a rearview camera, automatic headlights, rear-seat USB charge ports, 18-inch steel wheels, an auxiliary audio jack, cruise control, a Uconnect infotainment system, push-button ignition, dual USB inputs, a 5-inch touchscreen display, heated side mirrors, air conditioning, and a 40/20/40-split folding bench seat. Another model, the Big Horn, features cloth upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 60/40-split folding rear bench seat, fog lights, floor carpets, and tinted windows. There are also many different options you can add, like an 8.4-inch touchscreen, LED taillights and headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 20-inch wheels. One of the higher models, the Laramie, includes heated and ventilated front outboard seats, front and rear parking sensors, a heated steering wheel, driver-seat position memory, and leather upholstery.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

Chevrolet offers the 2019 Silverado in eight trim levels. The first of these, the Work Truck, doesn't come with an impressive array of features. These standard features include a tilt-only steering column, 17-inch steel wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen interface, a USB port, air conditioning, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker audio system. If you want a better selection of features then you'll have to get the Custom trim, which adds cruise control, 20-inch wheels, remote entry, front tow hooks, deep-tinted glass, and power and heated mirrors. The most impressive trim, High Country, adds ventilated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, a seven-speaker Bose audio system, rear cross-traffic alert, chrome side step rails, a power-sliding rear window, a spray-on bedliner, and heated second-row seats.
