New 2017 Jeep Cherokee at Thompson Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Baltimore for Baltimore, MD
The Jeep Cherokee for 2017 is still the trail-blazer with four doors and a comfortable interior that you have come to know through the years. There is a lot to this year's version, including up to 31 miles per gallon (mpg) highway, an industry-first rear-axle disconnection designed to save energy, more than 70 available advanced safety and security features, and best-in-class capability in towing and off-roading! There are two available Overland Packages that will be here late-season, named the Heavy Duty Protection Group and the Trailer Tow Prep Package. Lighting gets a boost in 2017 with standard high-intensity discharge headlamps on models after the Sport trim. The 4x4-only Trailhawk has Keyless Enter 'n Go, a remote start system, a power liftgate, a power 8-way driver seat, a premium heated steering wheel, a handy universal garage door opener, and front Nappa-leather heated seats. New to the Overland models are custom floor mats, a standard Alpine music system, and a Zebrano steering wheel with high-gloss/wood-trim that really adds finesse to the interior.
Under the Cherokee's Hood
The 2017 Cherokee can be put together in a front-wheel or 4-wheel drive, and either way, a standard 9-speed automatic is found in all 2017 Cherokee models. A 9-speed automatic is currently only found in the Cherokee among mid-size SUVs. A 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine by TigerShark is standard, with Multiair2, and is strong at 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. The other engine option to consider here is a Pentastar 3.2-liter V6 with VVT that gets the job done quickly with its 271-horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The V6 towing package can get to a solid 4,500-pound towing maximum (best-in-class), which is enough for most needs before you start getting into the need for air-suspension assisted truckbeds and related items. A front-wheel drive 2017 Cherokee rocking the 2.4-liter engine was rated by the EPA at 25 mpg combined (21 city/30 highway). The 2017 Jeep Cherokee can attain up to a 56:1 crawl ratio for low-range traction! The available Jeep 'Selec-Terrain' traction control system has up to five customized modes (Auto, Snow, Sport, Sand, Mud and Rock) and will let you breathe a sigh of relief if you get caught in a storm or something along those lines!
Design of Jeep Cherokee
The 2017 line includes the Sport, Latitude, Overland, Limited, and the Trailhawk. There are 3 other trims of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee to think about as well that are more specific within those original models: the 75th Anniversary Edition, the Altitude, and the High Altitude. The Trailhawk incorporates off-roading focused things like all-terrain tires, extra ground clearance, tow hooks, a wide driver info display with color graphics, hill ascent and descent control, a locking rear differential, skid plates, wider 17-inch wheels, satellite radio and an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen. The Limited trim comes standard with keyless entry/ignition, a rearview auto-dimming mirror, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Sport model has 17-inch steel wheels, an SD card reader, Bluetooth, remote keyless entry, sliding and reclining rear seats with 60/40-split folding seatbacks, an auxiliary input, and more! The Overland trim plays well with others via a 9-speaker sound system (include a subwoofer), Berber floor mats, an acoustic windshield and acoustic front windows, a passenger seat that is power-adjustable (with 4-way power lumbar), and a power lift gate. The Latitude barrels through to the fine points of design with LED interior lighting, then gets smart with a rearview camera, light alloy wheels, automatic xenon headlights, fog-lights, roof rails, and an 115-volt outlet. There's something for everyone within all these choices!
What is in the "Trailer Tow Prep" Package?
Within that package, there is found a trailer-tow wiring harness, an HD engine cooling feature (3.2L), an auxiliary transmission oil cooler, and a F/S spare tire.

This system has remote door unlock assistance, automatic impending crash notification, stolen vehicle assistance, and emergency on-demand roadside assistance.
